What I heard and saw in my house:

Savannah said:
It is princess sports time..... I think that might be an oxymoron.

What I saw Savannah wearing:
underwear and a home depot kids club apron (they are pretty similar to the regular bright orange aprons that all the HD employees wear)

What I saw Zoe wearing:
boots..... nothing but a pair of rain boots. She is potty training and takes all her clothes off first thing in the morning and refuses to wear anything all day unless we are going somewhere in the car..... and then I usually have to chase her down to put the diaper on her....

Heard in my House.... Yesterday

Scene: sitting on the ground at the end of the driveway in 65-70 degree weather.

Who: Mom, Savannah, and Zoe

Conversation-

Mom: "No Zoe, you can't eat Savannah's sticker book."

Savannah: "No Zoe, you can't eat my stickers, you have to eat the....."

Let's just say that Zoe breastfeeds.

Let's just say that I was glad others weren't around.

Another Round of Heard in my House Today

So during bathtime,

Savannah says: I don't feel so well.
to which I replied: What hurts.
and Savannah: The sidewalk.

Now last I checked the sidewalk was not a part of her body, but I think what she was trying to say is that the skinned toe that we have had a bandaid on during the last few days was hurting and that she hurt it on the sidewalk. Atlas though, it was rather amusing.

Heard in my House Today

So it has started to actually be bearable weather around here now.... start in the sixties and end in the eighties.... anyway, I decided this morning to take advantage of it and open the windows.

As Savannah was playing in her toy kitchen, next to her window, I opened it. And this is what I heard:

S: It's cold out there. (only 65 degrees, but it is all relative)
S: There's grass out there.
M: Yup.
S: There is worms in the grass.
M: Who told you that???
S: MaryAnn.
S: And there is the watermelons and the cantaloupes.

So there you go Maryann, you left a lasting impression about worms in the gardens and grass. Not only did you successfully keep her out of your garden, but now all gardens in general.

Before we left....

Right before we left, Savannah started playing a brand new game.



It is the latest form of peekaboo. I can't decide if it is the fact that she fits in there that amazes me the most, or if it is the fact that it can entertain her for hours... I kid you not, she must have done if 25 times in one sitting. We have several videos of her doing it too.... but I must remember not to turn the video recorder sideways.

Big Fun with Super Why

Our local PBS station had an open house today and I dragged myself and the two precious little girls downtown to go visit. If it hadn't been for the fact that we had been stuck inside for the last week, and mom was starting to go crazy.... or if the sun had actually made an appearance today so we could have played outside, I might have not gone. However, we had been stuck inside, and it was still rainy, so we went.... even with Savannah showing signs of sickness.

Yup, I dragged Savannah out in the rain today to go see her favorite cartoon characters down at the TV station. Getting there was like pulling teeth.... as soon as I thought we were ready to go we had to change clothes.... then we are leaving and I realize that my double stroller is at Mike's work so we have to drive there to pick it up (instead of driving the most direct /time efficient route)...

Once we made it there, we did however have a good time. Savannah thought it was cool that there were people paid to watch TV and that they could watch like ten TV screens all at the same time. She didn't understand the editing part or actual broadcasting though. We also were able to see the NPR radio rooms, and Savannah was just barely brave enough to talk into the microphone. After visiting with Wonder Red and Princess Presto (which I come to find out was her favorite of the Super Why Characters), we were ready to head out- lunch and nap a calling.

In the end we really only saw the Super Why characters and a tiny glimpse of Clifford (we actually almost ran over Clifford in the hallway with our big double stroller) but that was okay with Savannah cause Super Why is her favorite characters right now... She likes Clifford and Curious George, but it is Super Why she looks forward to every morning...

Next year she will enjoy it even more too.... She was still a little young for a lot of the stuff this time around. We also know that we don't need to show up quite as early.... We arrived when the doors opened this time... but it was a lot less crowded by the time we were leaving and would have been a lot more enjoyable not running over so many people.

Birthdays

So apparently Savannah is feeling birthday deprived. She keeps wanting it to be her birthday soon, though I wonder if she wants it to be her birthday necessarily or if she wants it to be someones birthday so she can have some cake. She thinks birthdays in general are just the greatest and she is right, it has been a while since we had one to celebrate in the family.... well, at least with cake and ice cream. But don't worry, Savannah, next year we'll get to celebrate Zoe's in the middle of summer and spread out the fun some.

In the meantime, maybe someone will make you a cake???? lol... Okay, maybe mommy will have to do it, just for fun.

Happy 4th

Happy Fourth of July to all you guys and gals out there. Even though we had a firecracker go off a little early this year, we still were able to make it up to the fireworks show here in our little town on Thursday. Savannah absolutely loved them, and cried when there was no more left to see.

Then we found out that something had actually happened, and the fireworks show was actually not over, but there was such a long pause between the acts, that everyone had already started leaving, including us. So sad, cause the ending is always the best part.

But Last night we were still able to see more fireworks, which Savannah again loved, just by standing out in the driveway. We also were able to let Savannah do a couple of sparklers that one of our friends had bought. She thought it was really cool, but we called it off after that since a two year old doesn't quite understand the danger element.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there. I hope you had a good time remembering all that the day commemorates. You guys well deserve it!

We have been busy around here yet without much pictures to show for it. We went up to Little Talbot Island with a group of our friends that were going camping. We didn't want to spend the night, especially since it was a last minute come along thing, but we enjoyed going and hanging out around the campfire and tent setting. It was a tad bit hot when we first arrived, but as the sun started setting we didn't have too much of an issue. We got to take the kids to the beach for a while, and roast marshmallows, which as everyone knows is the essence of camping.

While we were at the beach, we watched as multiple police, ambulances, and helicopters literally raced to the shoreline across the inlet from us. Apparently the tides are known for getting rather swift around the area we were at and a swimmer had been reported missing. Unfortunately, the outcome for that individual was not the one hoped for each time they are called out. It was interesting though to see the rescue personnel in action, and yet we were still very thankful to be far enough away not to have to see too much. Makes you appreciate the day that God gave you even more though.

While I took the camera along for this adventure, I never did take a single picture. Maybe I will get a few from the group we went with, and be able to post them a little later.

Today for Father's day, we basically just stayed around the house and ran some errands. We didn't do anything noteworthy except try and let dad relax a little on his day off.

Savannah's latest Obsession

Savannah has developed an obsession this week.... with swimming. It is only Wednesday (the week is only three days old) and we have gone to the community pool twice so far. What does she ask to do again this afternoon? "Mommy can we go swimming?" Haven't you had enough sun for the day... possibly the week? Even with all the sunscreen she is already as tan as mommy, but thankfully she has yet to get a sunburn. We shall keep our fingers crossed that she will not have a sunburn for a long time to come too.
