So we spent another morning driving to the Doctor's office and back, for an appointment with the Opthamology clinic. Dr Hunter sounded like he saw promise, that Savannah's eye was healing nicely, but was pretty cautious as to say whether or not he saw much improvement. Apparently the eye is clearing more from the actual surgery but that he still can not see too clearly into the back of the eye which is what he needs to be able to do to really know how successful it was... and then take a pressure reading.
So we see him again on Tuesday morning, so he can see how it is continuing to heal and to prep for the other eye.... Then we have another anesthesia appointment on Thursday.
It sounds like either way Savannah will be at Wolfsons next Thursday. Doc said that there are three scenarios. He will start next Thursday by taking a pressure read. Depending on results of that will determine his next action. Option 1: If the pressure is still too high, he could do another surgery on the left eye. Option 2: If the pressure is acceptable and the eye healed enough for her to see out of, then he will do the right eye. Option 3: He takes a reading of the pressure of the eye, finds out it is acceptable but then determines that it is still not usable. In this case no surgery will actually be done. Until Savannah is in the operating room though and she isn't fighting his every attempt to see into her eyes, he can not determine which option it will be.
Here is the good news: if it is option number 2, then the procedure is a lot less invasive since it isn't as severely damaged as the left eye was, and hopefully that means that we will have an easier recovery time. If it is option 1, then we start back at the healing process just as we stepped out last Tuesday... which is the bad news.
