They are the smartest little creatures. They know at an early age what will get them some extra attention whether mom or dad really like it or not. Like coming to the bedroom door and crying... I mean screaming. We finally started getting it down to just crying again but now it has morphed. She now says I am hungry, as if we are going to jump out of bed and fix a five course meal for her so that she can say, I don't want this. I told her at breakfast this morning that if she really was hungry that she would eat what was in front of her at breakfast time. She didn't like that answer too much, which then proved my point that she really wasn't hungry, just wanted mom and dad out of bed. Ugh, kids.
On a more positive note she has started talking more. I mean, she is now up to full sentences in almost everything she says. Most of the time it is really cute. When playing with her easter eggs she asks mommy to "close this one please" then she adds, "what about this one mommy?" when she realizes that there are other eggs that need closing. The problem becomes though that she can often open them faster than I can close them and I get very tired of closing them.
Midget 2 is comming along just fine. We were hoping to get to go to Minnesota before she is born but that just doesn't look like it is going to happen. Between tax time and health stuff, the time just doesn't seem to be there. We know we will be going up towards the end of summer, but we thought it might be nice just to get away for a little while before then.
Now on to another issue that I have been looking into lately. Mike thinks I am nuts but I have been thinking about doing cloth diapers for this kid. I hear that the cloth diapers have come leaps and bounds since the last time anyone in our family ever dreamed of using them and I also hear that they are in the long run a lot less expensive, even though they are a lot more in the startup costs. I also don't feel comfortable buying them second hand, so that makes it more expensive. Then, there is all the different types and I just throw my hands up and say, maybe it is easier to stick with disposables just so I don't have to commit to the expense! Once I get into it though, I think it would be just as easy as other diapering methods. I hear the thing is that you just have to run the load through the washer twice, once to wash and the other time with some vinegar or what not to sanitize. Mike thinks the idea is nuts just cause he doesn't want to have to wash them but honestly I don't think he has had to run a load of laundry on his own for a while, so what would it matter to him? He would still just be throwing the dirty ones in the bin just like he does now, but then he wouldn't have to take it out to the street! See, he ends up with an even better deal then he has now!
Then I ask myself though, what about travelling and going to Grandma's house for the day and so forth. I guess it could be a combination of diapering methods depending on who perfers what. I mean if I were to do the cloth diapers and I was there to change it, I could put another cloth diaper on. But what about grandma who just finds the idea disgusting? ( I really don't know if she does or not, just an example) or what about when travelling, do we want to subject someone else's washing machine and so forth to that???? But the bright side is we wouldn't have to go out at the last minute cause we are running out of diapers to buy another pack and then end up shipping them home since there is no room in the luggage. (See a positive to balance the negative.)
So of all you gals our there reading this, if you have an experience with the whole idea or know others who do, let me know. I don't really know anyone who actually uses cloth diapers in which I can bounce any of these questions off of, so I am kinda muling through it on my own. The whole idea was kinda of presented to me through Amy at Clothesline Alley. She uses them but I can't quite figure out how it all fits together and she is definately too far away to actually show me how to do it.

well, obviously i don't have any personal experience with cloth diapers, but from what i've heard, it's fairly common (for people who use them) to do it half and half. use cloth all the time at home but have disposables for daycare or the babysitter, or whatnot.
I like reading MSN's Women in Red message board, and there have been a few discussions about cloth diapers there. here's one: http://tinyurl.com/38x3ho . It's mostly a financial board, but this kind of stuff comes up as a way of saving money. there are also several threads about pregnancy, babies, etc, from a "frugal" perspective. If you have questions you can ask them and the women are very helpful with their answers. although, i'm sure you can find other boards dedicated just to babies that might be more useful, but i can't recommend any since i haven't gotten to that point yet.
ok that's enough from me about that! hope to see you again sometime soon, maybe i can take a turn closing eggs for savannah. :)
