So we had testing at the public school system today. They tested lots of different things - speech, academic, hearing, etc.
She slurs her F's, but R's and L's are coming along nicely (I was in speech for those for several years)
Academically she is right on track.
Hearing is normal.
The Vision specialist did recommend that the school system start exploring ways to aid Savannah's learning.
Right now, she is at age level, or slightly above. There is fear though that with the patching and the vision loss she needs extra help to prevent falling behind in the next few years.
The next step is an Individualized Education Plan, in which the services provided will be placed into writing, with measurable goals, etc. That will happen probably in the next month, and until then there is no other information available. I can't even at this time state how long the school day will be for Savannah, how many days a week, etc.... I just know that something will be coming out of this.
