While Joanna, Del, and their gang all lived here in St Augustine, we became addicted to their cranberry brew. Cranberry Tea is rather easy to make, though it takes a while, mostly because of the stewing, and therefore is really easy to make even a day or two before hand.
I don't really make it that much, but I do like it at the holidays, and has become a nice little tradition. At our house we take the recipe a step further though, and get a double benefit out of those cranberries. So after you have made your tea, keep going and make cranberry sauce.
First of all, when you make your tea, DON"T USE STICK CINNAMON! Unless you can strain it really well, the little bits of wood from the cinnamon, would not work well in the cranberry sauces. I made this mistake once and had to start over again.....
Once you have strained the cranberry Tea though, take the left over cranberries, add one cup of sugar and one cup of water, Stir well to mix and remove from heat. Add any extra ingredients such as nuts etc. Then pour into dish, and refrigerate till firm. Another recipe that is made beforehand, due to need to chill.

Really? I KNEW that leftover stuff could be good for something. We've tried cranberry bread and other items made from the leftover but not cranberry sauce. Good idea! Happy Thanksgiving! (Our cranberry tea is awaiting our consumption as well!)
This time our cranberry sauce was really watery. I actually never added any water, but some of the juicefrom the tea, but the cranberries had so much water in them that it didn't gel well.
Wow, that's great Meagan.
