Out of Sorts

So I have been really out of it lately. Ever since Buffer died, I haven't had the desire to do much, or do anything really. Emotionally I am drained, and just not coping well. I don't think Mike ever knew how deep it went with Buffer and I - I am not even sure if I knew.

The desire to cuddle and hug a dog like Buffer is really, really great though, and this morning I took the girls to the st johns county dog pound and browsed. We met a little guy named Max who was very sweet, almost too timid for a family with rowdy little girls. He was already eight though (so more than full grown) and looked to weigh about ten pounds. He also seemed to possibly have more health issues than what met the eye (he walked funny on some surfaces- possible hip problems) but was owner surrendered so he has that going for him. He will make another family with older kids or a single woman a very good dog.

So our search continues. I found two or three dogs over the Internet that seemed like maybe they would make a good fit. A white poodle out of a Jacksonville dog rescue, and (one or two) beige poodle mix(es) from Coastal Poodle Rescue. (I couldn't tell if the beige poodle was listed twice or if the dogs were litter mates.) All are twenty pounds or under, and younger than Max.

I didn't think I would ever get another dog after Buffy, but I find I still need one, though Buffy was seventeen years old and had long outlived his other brothers. I am aware that another dog can never fill Buffers paws, cause he was way too good of a dog to be able to be replaced that easily. Having a young pup in the house though would be a nice treat.

Besides, this Dusty dog needs a young whippersnapper to torment her just like she did to the Old Man Buffer!
