Fishing with Jesus

Fishing with Jesus
We did the clasic fishing with plastic fishing poles idea that you can find all over the web.  The fishing poles we used were originally found at the dollar store.

Lacing Fish
Today’s story talked about the fishermen who couldn’t catch any fish until Jesus came along.  Today we are going to make a fish just like the ones that Jesus helped Peter James and John catch!  Pass out one precut partially laced fish per child (google fish coloring sheet).  Allow children to decorate their fish with crayons, stickers, etc.  When they are done, demonstrate how to crumple up the newspaper and stuff their fish.  Staple or allow children to lace the hole closed.  I started the laces at the mouth so that they also eded at the mouth, so the children could hand the fish up as if they had hooked them!

Paper Plate Boats
Pre-staple or glue two halves of a paper plate together to make a boat shape.  Let the kids decorate the boats however they would like.  Optional - Add a piece of netting and three popsicle sticks for the people fishing.   Then fill with goldfish crackers for snack time. Yum!
